Pulaski County Elementary School will accomplish our mission by providing a relevant, integrated curriculum presented by a dedicated, team-oriented staff in a nurturing environment. Because PCES was awarded the Reading First Grant, students in grade K-3 are exposed to scientifically based reading instruction. Third, fourth and fifth grade students are exposed to learning in 21st century classrooms where the latest technology is at their fingertips, and all students are exposed to this technology via the media center. Our curriculum is enriched with art, music, computers, media, physical education, and gifted education. Good manners are taught and practiced daily because we believe that good character builds good citizens.
Pulaski County Elementary (PCES) was opened in 1990 on the same location as the previous elementary school. It houses grades K-5, with an average enrollment of 710. Community resources that are utilized at the school include Pulaski County Arts Council, which provides numerous occasions throughout the year for children to experience cultural events such as storytellers, dance, music, and other performances. Our PTO plays a major role in bringing special events to our schools such as the Scholastics Book Fair, dances, and the spring fling. The local sheriff's department offers CHAMPS classes to the fifth grade each year, as well as 4-H through the local extension service. The Help a Child Smile Mobile Dental Program offers dental services to our students yearly, and Dr. Cheek and staff visit to educate our students about dental hygene. Our local fire department also visits the school each year to help the students become familiar with fire safety.
Pulaski County Elementary School is a Title 1 School and has been named a Distinguished Title 1 School by the Georgia Department of Education.
