Learning Independence Through Talking, Listening, and Exploring is our Pre-Kindergarten program. Accredited with Quality by the Georgia Accrediting Commission, this program prepares children and parents for a successful transition into kindergarten. Each of the four classrooms has a certified teacher and a paraprofessional to guide students in a variety of activities including circle time, outside time, work time, story time, small group, phonological awareness activities, and Let’s Find Out About It/Let’s Talk About It.

Activities are specifically designed to enhance skills in personal and social development, language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social studies, the arts, and physical development and health. Children learn through teacher-directed and self-directed activities through the literacy-based Opening the World of Learning curriculum.

Pre-K students enjoy many special enrichment activities throughout the year including field trips, holiday parties, field day, Grits with Grandparent, Doughnuts with Dad, and Muffins with Mom. A favorite time for Pre-K students is RIF day. Three times each year students select a book from the Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) program to keep for their own.

Pre-K parent meetings are also held each month. Topics include money management, behavior management, Parent and Child Together activities (PACT), Family Math & Science Night, and ages and stages of child development.

While our primary focus is providing a quality preschool education and preparing our students for kindergarten, we also work diligently to encourage parental involvement and to collaborate with community organizations. Our Parent Advisory Council and the Pulaski County Preschool Collaborative are opening the doors to unrealized opportunities.

Because we focus on the whole child and his/her total well-being, we realize that we are not only an educational institution, but a service provider as well. We work comprehensively to provide students and parents with any and all services needed. In addition, we link them to available community resources in a concerted effort to positively affect student achievement in all areas of development.
